Boaters had life jackets, marine radio
The Coast Gaurd out of Oswego helped disabled boaters near Sodus Bay on Friday afternoon
Coast Guard rescuers towed a disabled boat to safety, after it became disabled near Sodus Bay on Friday afternoon.
The response boat was already out on patrol when the distress call came in, about 1pm. The disabled boat was anchored about 100 yards from the Sodus Bay breakwall, and the Coast Guard towed it to a local marina.
Rescuers noted that the three boaters were all wearing life jackets, and were not injured, and that their boat was equipped with a VHF-FM marine-band radio, which is recommended (rather than cell phone) for communications on the water.
