SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police are investigating an armed robbery that turned into a double-shooting.

It happened Monday shortly before 8:30 p.m. along the 100 block of Van Rensselaer Street near Richmond Avenue in Syracuse.

Three men entered the home with handguns, according to police. They then shot a man and a woman in an upstairs apartment.

The man shot was John Hinton, 24, of Syracuse. He was shot in the stomach and is in critical condition, according to police.

The woman shot was Jacquelin Palmer, 22, of Syracuse. She was shot in the neck and is in serious condition, according to investigators.

Police tell us they believe the house was targeted because of drugs.

The suspects reportedly left the scene in a blue, four-door vehicle.

Anyone with information on the shooting should call Syracuse Police at 315-442-5222.
