OSWEGO -- An Oswego man is charged with welfare fraud.

Oswego County Sheriff's deputies say 54-year-old Derrick Williams Jr., of 38 Birch Lane Apt. 35B, illegally obtained more than $5,000 worth of Food Stamp and Medicaid benefits due to not reporting incomes to the Oswego County Department of Social Services.

Williams is charged with grand larceny, welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing. He was arraigned in the Town of Volney Court and released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court on April 17.
