SYRACUSE -- Comedian Daniel Tosh performed his stand-up routine to two capacity crowds at Syracuse's Landmark Theatre Saturday night.
Tickets sold-out fast, attracting people from across the state to see the Comedy Central star.
"It's awesome that he's so close, usually to see like big stars you have to travel to New York City," said Amanda Faiola, who drove to Syracuse from Seneca Falls to see Tosh.
Getting Tosh to Syracuse can be credited, in large part, to the new-look Landmark Theatre.
The Syracuse treasure was closed for nearly two years while undergoing a $16-million renovation and expansion.
The goal was to attract to bigger, Broadway-style shows to Syracuse.
All the buzz surrounding the theatre's reopening in November has been reeling the stars into Syracuse.
"We really did a lot of marketing to the promoters across the country," said Denise Dirienzo, executive director of the Landmark Theatre.
And it's paying off for the theatre and downtown businesses.
"It's awesome, because they all come in and they're smiling and they're looking forward to what they're going to do later, said Meghan Hazer of Bull and Bear Pub, located in Downtown Syracuse's Hanover Square. "They come in get something to eat, get a few drinks then do their thing."
And the fun doesn't stop with Daniel Tosh.
Upcoming shows at the Landmark include Daughtry, Bonnie Raitt and Johnny Mathis.
