COLUMBIA -- A Richfield Springs man was killed in a car crash in the Town of Columbia.

It happened around 5:15 p.m. Monday on ST-28 near Jordanville Road.

State Police say 40-year-old Edward Ostrander, of Main Street, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet 2DS when he lost control, flying about 200 feet down an embankment and slamming into a tree.

Ostrander was taken to Basset Hospital in Cooperstown where he was pronounced dead.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
