SYRACUSE -- The owner of a pit bull at the center of a high profile animal abuse case has been sentenced.

Princess was found in a basement on Oak Street in Syracuse last November. She had been starved, and weighed only about half what she should have.

Her owner, Wendy Collins, pleaded guilty to a charge of failure to provide veterinary care. She was sentenced in Syracuse City Court Thursday to three years on probation.

Princess is doing very well. She has been adopted, and is now the "spokesdog" for the CNY SPCA's animal cruelty awareness campaign. She also got a visit from Animal Planet's Shorty Rossi when he visited the SPCA in January.
