MANLIUS -- The East Area Family YMCA is expanding into Manlius and buying Eastside Racquet Club.
The 60,000 square-foot facility is located on West Seneca Turnpike. The new Y will feature eight outdoor tennis courts and three indoor tennis courts. The Y also plans to build an athletic performance center, featuring a short sprint track and indoor turf courts along with a small fitness center with cardio and weight machines. The facility will also offer massage, yoga and pilates. Currently, there are no plans to build a pool.
The remaining interior space will be renovated for other use. For example, there will be programming for cancer survivors and people diagnosed with pre-diabetes.
Another section of the building will be used for a childcare center.
All YMCA members will have access to the new facility, but regular program fees will apply. The Y will take over the facility in July.
