Campaign underway at the start of prom/graduation season
Prevention Network is offering a pledge, as a conversation starter for parents and teens on alcohol and drug abuse
'The Pledge' is a contract, not an order, that will get teens to think about the dangers of risky behavior like drinking and driving, or drug use.
Colby Sutter, with The Prevention Network, says the agreement is designed to get both teens and their parents thinking about drugs and alcohol, with prom and graduation season coming up. It's not an edict, from parent to child, but rather a definition of responsibilities on both sides--emphasizing that parents have to make commitments, too, like promising not to chaperone or be involved in student parties where alcohol is served, and role modeling responsible behavior.
