SYRACUSE -- The co-founder of a Michigan-based private-equity firm is donating $7 million to a central New York college he graduated from more than 40 years ago.

The Wall Street Journal reports that officials at Le Moyne College in Syracuse will announce Thursday that 63-year-old Michael Madden is making the donation to establish the Madden School of Business.

Madden, a 1971 Le Moyne graduate, is co-founder and managing partner of BlackEagle Partners LLC, based in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.

The Buffalo-born son of a steel-mill worker and a nurse, Madden was among a group of alumni that helped establish the MBA program at Le Moyne, a Jesuit college with an enrollment of 2,300 undergraduates.
