DEWITT -- A Cicero man is accused of acting unruly towards a judge and damaging a police car.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the DeWitt police department on Butternut Drive in East Syracuse.

Police say 51-year-old Joseph Tilkins, of 8827 Brewerton Rd., got angry at a Town of DeWitt judge during his arraignment on charges from an earlier violent incident in Cicero. Later, when police put Tilkins into the back of a Cicero patrol car, they say he started kicking the window out, damaging the door frame and causing more than $1,400 in damage to the car. Police say Tilkins also made several threats to an officer.

Tilkins was eventually put in another patrol car and was taken to the Justice Center.

He is charged with criminal mischief. Additional charges are pending.
