SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police are searching for the person responsible for a hit-and-run accident that injured a young child.

Police said it happened shortly after 6:00 p.m. Sunday on the 200 block of Carbon Street.

Officers said they found a four-year-old boy in the street. Police said he was playing in the street when he was hit by the car.

Paramedics brought him to Upstate University Hospital, where he was treated for a non-life threatening leg injury.

Police said the driver of the car took off before officers got to the scene.

Witnesses said they last saw the car driving northbound on Carbon Street.

The vehicle is described as a gold colored, new model vehicle, possibly a Buick, police said.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Syracuse Police at 442-5151. All calls will be kept confidential.
