SYRACUSE -- The threat of rain kept most of the Chiefs fans at home on Tuesday but those who did come out had a whole new view on the game. Alliance Bank Stadium's new scoreboard is one of the largest in minor league baseball. Instead of flickering light bulbs and dead spots, the new million dollar scoreboard entertained fans with real time stats and video replay.
"Looks very good - it's probably still got a few kinks to work out as far as information for the game but it definitely adds to the experience here at the ballpark," said Chiefs fan Kevin Conroy.
Alliance Bank Stadium also has upgraded specialty food stands this season. They have been getting great reviews from fans but the scoreboard was the big draw on Tuesday. The old scoreboard wasn't exactly cutting edge when the stadium opened in 1997 so the new scoreboard is a huge step forward.
"Technology is so great these days. It changes so fast and now with the technology it's beautiful," said Chiefs fan Mark Ennis.
The draw of minor league baseball has always been the chance to see future stars - but Chiefs General Manager John Simone says they now need more than good players to get people into the stadium.
"New look, new food items and the scoreboard to go along with, obviously, the baseball. Unfortunately, the people just don't come to see baseball, they come to eat, they come to watch the video boards and we think these are the most important things we added this year," said Simone.
