SYRACUSE -- A truck got stuck under the West Genesee Street bridge in Syracuse Friday morning.

The first call was placed to 911 at 9:45am reporting a vehicle collision with a structure at the intersection of West Genesee Street and Erie Boulevard West.

Syracuse Police Sgt. Gary Bulinski says the tractor-trailer hauling plastic was headed east on of West Genesee Street when it hit the railroad bridge.

The driver was identified as 54-year-old Kent Baughan, from Milwood, Georgia. He was issued a traffic ticket for exceeding clearance restrictions and will appear in court at a later date.

Sgt. Bulinksi says the truck belongs to a company called Celadon Trucking Services located in Columbus, Indiana.

West Genesee will be shut down between Erie Boulevard West and State Fair Boulevard while the truck is removed.

In January, the City of Syracuse announced plans to lower West Genesee Street underneath the railroad bridge that has been hit by trucks repeatedly over the years.
