A 16 year old Cornell student and her mother, 45, were loading belongings into their Subaru S.U.V in the Clara Dickson Hall parking lot on the Cornell University campus on Friday around 5:30pm, when they were hit by a Subaru station wagon driven by an 18 year old Cornell student that was backing out of a grassy area near the lot.
Police say the impact caused significant damage to both vehicles and injured both of the women, who were at the rear of the S.U.V. when the collision happened. Both women were treated at the scene, and one victim was transported to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse for serious physical injuries, especially to one leg, while the other was transported to Cayuga Medical Center with less serious injuries.
Police say the operator of the station wagon that was determined to be at fault was uninjured during the incident.
Investigation is still ongoing, and no charges have been filed as of this time.
