Big crackdown starts Monday impacting drivers

A big seat belt crackdown starts on Monday.

"Buckle Up New York" is a 14-day statewide campaign. It's a big crackdown on drivers and their passengers who do not wear seat belts.

Police will be out in full force all over the state making sure the law is being followed.

Front seat passengers 16 and older may be fined up to $50 if they do not wear their seat belt. Drivers may be fined up to $100 for each passenger under the age of 16 who is not properly restrained in their vehicles.

The campaign runs through Sunday, June 3rd.
