Firefighters at the scene of a fire on Ilex Lane

LIVERPOOL -- The Red Cross is helping a family after a fire in Liverpool.
Firefighters were called to a home on Ilex Lane in the Bayberry neighborhood just before eight o'clock Wednesday morning. Fire officials say the flames started in a room on the first floor. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to that room, but there was heavy smoke damage in the rest of the house.
A family of four lives at the home, but everyone was out at the time. The Red Cross is assisting the family.
