SACKETS HARBOR (AP) -- A new guidebook published by an upstate New York-based tourism promotion organization details some of the stories about pirates, sailors, daredevils, battles, shipwrecks, lighthouses and other attractions to be found along the Great Lakes Seaway Trail.

The guidebook, titled "Sailors, Keepers, Shipwrecks, and The Maid," is published by Seaway Trail, Inc., based in Sackets Harbor on Lake Ontario's eastern shore.

The stories in the book take place in a region stretching from Lake Erie to the St. Lawrence River, and include such waterfront locales as Dunkirk, Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Rochester and Sackets Harbor.

The Great Lakes Seaway Trail is a 518-mile-long coastal byway that follows the shorelines of Lake Erie, the Niagara River, Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. It stretches from the Ohio-Pennsylvania border to Massena in northern New York.
