NEW HARTFORD -- A Herkimer man was arrested for allegedly attacking a hospital security guard while high on "bath salts."
Police say they arrested 26-year-old Brian A. Brewczynski after he allegedly attacked a St. Luke's Hospital security officer while being treated in the Emergency Department in New Hartford.
Police say that during the attack, Brewczynski allegedly attempted to use medical equipment as a weapon against an officer causing injuries to his face and neck that required medical treatment.
Brewczynski was reported to have been under the influence of "Bath Salts" at the time of the attack.
Police charged Brewczynski with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He was arrested on May 29 after a warrant had been issued.
Brewczynski was arraigned in the Town of New Hartford Court and was committed to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000.00 cash bail or $5,000.00 bond.
