CORTLAND -- A Cortland County Corrections Officer is on the other side of the law.

Officer Gordon Barnhart, of Cortland, is facing two counts of official misconduct after investigators say he used unwarranted force and threats on an inmate at the Cortland County Jail. An internal investigation at the jail found Barnhart used physical force to lock an inmate in his cell on April 7th. Then when the inmate filed a complaint on the incident, investigators say Barnhart threatened the inmate into withdrawing that complaint.

Barnhart was arrested Wednesday after the internal investigation. He was issued appearance tickets and will be back in court June 13th.
