GEDDES -- The State Fair’s popular free concert series will get a double dose of the 1970s and 80s as two more acts have been added to the Chevy Court lineup for 2012.
According to a press release from the New York State Fair, rockers The J. Geils Band and country singer/pianist Ronnie Milsap will perform at Chevy Court for free this summer.
The J. Geils Band is best known for its hit song “Centerford”, plus “Freeze Frame”, “Give it to Me”, and “Must of Got Lost”. They will perform on Saturday, August 25 at 8:00 p.m.
Ronnie Milsap is a six-time Grammy Award winner and country music’s first famous blind artist. He is best known for songs such as "Smoky Mountain Rain," "(There's) No Getting Over Me," and "I Wouldn't Have Missed It for the World." He will play the Court at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 26.
"We're happy to announce another diverse group of Chevy Court performers," said State Fair Director Dan O'Hara in a statement to the media. "With Opening Day less than three months away, we know that Fairgoers are anxious to know all the different performers they'll hear at the Fair this year."
This year Chevy Court will feature 24 different performances, all free with State Fair admission, as part of its two show per day lineup.
The 2012 Great New York State Fair will run from August 23 through September 3.
