SYRACUSE -- An Onondaga County man has received his sentence for his role in a drunk driving crash that killed an elderly man last fall.

Harry McLeod of Allen Road in North Syracuse stood before Judge Anthony Aloi in Onondaga County Court Wednesday morning. McLeod was driving drunk without his headlights on when he hit and killed 78-year-old Edward Warner on Brewerton Road in the Town of Salina last October. Earlier this year, McLeod had accepted a plea deal of four to twelve years in state prison on the charge of first degree vehicular manslaughter.

The victim's family says no sentence can help them with the pain of the tragedy.

“You know does it really matter to me if he goes away for 100 years or one year or even four months, my father's gone, that's what I want, I want my father back” said Mark Warner, the victim’s son.

McLeod apologized for the crash in open court.
