TOWN OF SALINA -- Police in Onondaga County say a teen was stabbed Thursday night during a fight over a missing bike.

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office tells CNY Central that around 8:20 p.m. deputies were called to the Shop City plaza in Lyncourt for a report of a possible stabbing. When police arrived they were told that a 15-year-old boy had entered the Dollar Tree store, leaving his bicycle outside. When he returned, he discovered that the bike was missing. The boy was reportedly told by two other males that they knew where the bike was located.

Police say as the three boys were walking along the sidewalk, a fight broke out. The bike theft victim allegedly stabbed another 15-year-old in the stomach. The stabbing victim was taken to Upstate University Hospital with what police are calling non-life threatening injuries.

Police have not released the names of the suspect or victim, nor have they specified any charges, pending the ages of those involved. Police say the case is still under investigation.
