Two people taken to University Hospital after shooting in Syracuse

SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police say two teenagers were shot on the city's West side Monday afternoon.

It happened around 5:05 p.m. along the 400 block of Rich Street.

Multiple shots were fired and the two teens were struck, according to Sgt. Tom Connellan of the Syracuse Police Department.

16-year-old Sherron Jones of Syracuse was rushed into surgery at Upstate University Hospital and is listed in critical condition. 15-year-old Quavon Cosby, also of Syracuse, was shot in the arm. His injuries are not life threatening, according to police.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s and was wearing a blue Champion hooded sweatshirt and was riding a bicycle north on Hudson Street.

Jones remained in critical condition Tuesday morning.
