CLIFTON PARK -- Authorities say a 31-year-old man was high on drugs when state police clocked him driving more than 100 mph through a work zone on a suburban Albany highway.
Officials say troopers conducting traffic enforcement within the work zone on Interstate 87 in Clifton Park clocked Ryan Spiak of Averill Park driving a sport utility vehicle 103 mph while a crew was still working Tuesday morning.
Police say there was an active work crew working at the time but none of the work crew members were struck. Spiak did knock over a few traffic cones.
The troopers followed the SUV but ended the pursuit when it entered the city of Troy, where the vehicle crashed on Alternate Route 7. Spiak fled on foot but was caught soon after.
The charges against him include reckless endangerment, unlawful fleeing of a police officer and driving under the influence of drugs.
He's being held in Saratoga County jail on $20,000 bail. It couldn't immediately be determined if he had a lawyer.
