Police in Madison County have released the name of a man who died in a boating accident on Cazenovia Lake Sunday afternoon.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office says 64-year-old Arthur Morris III of Manlius was apparently fishing in his canoe around 4:00 p.m. when he ended up in the water near the southwest corner of the lake. Witnesses say nearby boaters were able to pull Morris out of the water and start CPR. He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 5:00 p.m.

Deputies are asking for the public's help to find more witnesses to the incident. They say they would like to speak with people who were on a white boat with a blue stripe and blue sun cover. They believe that boat may have been in the area at the time.

Anyone with information is asked to call (315) 366-2311.

Police say the cause of death is pending an autopsy report. No timetable was given on the release of that report.
