SYRACUSE -- A man wanted for murder in Maine has been arrested after hiding out in Syracuse.

On April 21, 2011, Maine State Police responded to an apartment in Westbrook for a reported stabbing.

Robert Stubbs, 40, had been stabbed multiple times and died at the scene, according to police. Stubbs' wife was also stabbed and has since recovered from her injuries.

Tareek Hendricks, 30, is the man police say stabbed both people and then left the state.

The U.S. Marshals Maine Violent Offender Task Force learned Hendricks could be in the Syracuse area.

Investigators spent three weeks gathering information before locating Hendricks. He was arrested Wednesday morning at 1012 Park Street after a brief standoff.

Hendricks is charged with murder and is being held in the Onondaga County Justice Center awaiting extradition to Maine.
