NEW YORK -- A Jet Blue pilot flying from Syracuse to JFK over the weekend was hurt in the cockpit by a laser that had been pointed at the plane by someone on the ground.

The pilot suffered a minor injury to his eye Sunday over long island. No one on board flight 657 from Syracuse got hurt and the plane landed safely.

Lasers pointed at commercial planes has been an ongoing problem and has been a federal crime since 2011.

According to NBC 4 in New York, the FAA and FBI is investigating the incident.
