Expect backups both north & southbound in Syracuse
Expect delays Monday as the 690 West ramp is closed from 81 North (or the downtown onramp)
More traffic headaches are expected Monday, as a big part of the 81/690 interchange is shut down for the day.
The DOT says the ramp from 81 North to 690 West will be closed, 8am to 4pm Monday, for construction. That will affect 81 traffic coming into Syracuse from the south, and also vehicles trying to get to the ramp from the downtown (Almond Street) onramp.
This, in addition to the ongoing 81 South lane narrowing south of the interchange, which has traffic backed up, even before vehicles reach the interchange.
The advice: plan alternate routes or expect long delays.
