SYRACUSE -- Three people remain in critical condition after an early morning car crash along James Street in Eastwood Monday morning.

Syracuse Police say 20-year-old Darryl Trapps, 21-year-old Robert McGann and 19-year-old Melyssa Turner had to be cut from the vehicle.

Investigators say around 5:15 a.m. Trapps lost control of his 2011 Chevy Impala at the intersection of James Street and Cook Avenue.

Police say he was driving eastbound on the 1800 block of James Street when he hit a light pole.

The car continued on and hit a tree in front of 1904 James Street where it finally came to a rest.

All three were taken to Upstate Hospital.

James Street between Cook Avenue and Teall Avenue was closed while crews worked to remove the wreckage.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
