SYRACUSE -- A clerk helped stop an armed robbery at his store.

Syracuse Police say the incident happened at 3:50pm Tuesday afternoon along the 300 block of South Lowell Ave.

Detectives say the suspect barged into Poolers Grocery and Deli with a handgun, and demanded money from a 64-year-old man in the store.

That's when the clerk stepped in and got into a fight with the suspect.

The crook ran away after the struggle and started heading towards the Rosamond Gifford Zoo.

The customer that was attacked suffered minor injuries and will be okay.

If you have information contact the Syracuse Police at 442-5222.
