Homer man arrested for animal cruelty after shooting neighbor's dog with a pellet rifle

Cortland County SPCA investigators arrested Joseph Thomas Jr., 62, of Homer, after he shot his neighbor's dog with a pellet rifle, causing unjustifiable injury to the dog.

Investigators say the incident happened on July 18th, and that Thomas admitted to shooting the dog.

Thomas was arrested on one count of Cruelty to Animals, a Class A misdemeanor. If convicted, he could face up to one year in jail, and up to $1000.

Thomas was processed and released on an appearance ticket, and will apear in Town of Homer Town Court on August 21st, 2012 for arraignment.
