LIVERPOOL -- A Liverpool woman is trying to raise awareness about the syndrome that took the life of her infant daughter.

Laura Sateriale's 20-month-old daughter Lily died last February from a condition called Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC).

Unlike the better known Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, SUDC occurs in children who are more than 1-year-old.

So little is known about SUDC that some doctors have never heard of it.

Sateriale says she is planning to put on a walk in her daughters memory to help raise awareness about the rare condition that took her daughters life.

"We want to keep Lily's memory alive and make sure people remember her. We really need to find the cause of this and why this is happening," she says.

SUDC is rare, with only about 1.2 deaths per 100,000 children each year, according to SUDC.org.
