Two major water main breaks had Syracuse repair crews scrambling early Saturday morning.

On Syracuse's North Side, an 8-inch main ruptured, forcing Water Department crews to shut down Butternut Street at the bank near the North Salina Street intersection for repairs. The work was complted shortly before noon.

In downtown Syracuse, a big 12-inch main was leaking, in the construction area near West Genesee and Clinton Streets.
Crews have also repaired that pipe.
