Dozens of people gathered in Syracuse's Clinton Square on Sunday night with a clear message: Stop the violence in our community.

Members of Mothers Against Gun Violence are speaking out, and they have a lot of support. There were performances, speeches, and a vigil in downtown Syracuse.

The organization wants the families of victims to know that they are not alone, and they have not been forgotten. Mothers Against Gun Violence President Helen Hudson says the women involved work hard to provide support.

"I'm extremely proud of all of these women," says Hudson. "They are so very courageous because every time there's a homicide, every time we have to address a mother, these women step forward. To know that they lost their children in this manner and for them to take this step, I'm just so proud of them"

Hudson says since the organization was founded in 1996, there have been 310 homicides in Syracuse.
