WEBB (AP) -- Authorities say a military helicopter has helped rescue two people after a small plane crashed in a remote Adirondacks lake.

They tell the Adirondack Daily Enterprise that the U.S. Air Force Blackhawk was on a training mission when mayday calls came in about the accident at about 9 a.m. Thursday.

Few details about the crash are available, but state police say the two people on board weren't seriously hurt. The helicopter took them to the U.S. Army's Fort Drum to be checked out.

The plane went down in Gull Lake in the Herkimer County town of Webb. The lake is about 60 miles northeast of Syracuse.

State environmental regulators will check for any contamination from the accident. Federal aviation safety experts are on their way to investigate.
