Dark smoke could be seen from a mile away at sunset in Manlius as police cars and fire trucks rushed to the scene of a house fire in the 8000 block of Salt Springs Road.   The fire calls went out around 8:15 Wednesday evening.

Emergency officials on the scene say no one was hurt.  Neighbors tell us the owners of the home live out of state in Utah. Tthey rent out the house to tenants. The home sits on Salt Springs near McLenthen Road. Salt Springs Road connects Fayetteville to Chittenango.

There are no fire hydrants on that stretch of road so departments from many miles away lined up with tankers and pumpers to deliver water to battle the flames.  Departments included:  Chittenango, Fayetteville, Manlius, Pompey Hill, Delphi Falls, Canastota and Cazenovia.
