Fire crews were called to the Bayshore Apartment complex in Brewerton at around 2:00pm this afternoon, as black smoke billowed out of one of the apartment buildings.

Brewerton Fire Chief Robert Zacholl said they believe the fire started on the first floor, but the cause is still under investigation. They are also investigating how many units were affected.

Thanks to both residents and neighbors within the complex, everyone did get out of the apartment safely, and no firefighters were hurt. Those who heard the alarm and saw the flames alerted those inside the apartment, which helped them get out unharmed.
