Union Springs man charged with felony arson

UNION SPRINGS -- Deputies in Cayuga County made an arrest in connection with the arson fire at 16 Park Street in Union Springs on July 30.

Sheriff David Gould reports that fire investigators discovered evidence of arson shortly after the fire was extinguished.

The investigation also found that the house had been burglarized for copper two days before the fire.

Sheriff Gould says they arrested 24-year-old James "JT" Workman for burglary and felony arson.

Workman was arrested at the Cayuga County Jail and arraigned in the Town of Springport Court. He was remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
