CLAY -- A 19-year-old is in critical condition after being struck by a car on Oswego Road in Clay.

Deputies say a 19-year-old was hit by a car on Oswego Road, at the intersection of Redwing Drive, in the Town of Clay around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

Michael Cardwell Jr. was attempting to cross Oswego Road when he walked into the bath of a Ford Focus going north. Deputies say Cardwell did not have the right of way.

Deputies say response personnel found Cardwell laying unconscious in the road. He was rushed to Upstate University Hospital with a critical head injury.

Deputies say the car was driven by 18-year-old Ashley Weare of Lysander. Weare was not injured.

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office is continuing the investigation.
