AUBURN -- An Auburn man is dead after Auburn Police found him lying face down and unresponsive after a fight on Steel Street in the City of Auburn early Sunday morning.
The Auburn Police Department responded to a report of some men fighting in the area of Steel Street near Logan Street at approximately 12:55 on Sunday morning. Before getting to the scene, officers learned that one of the men involved poured gas on another, and that one man was also bleeding.
When they arrived, police say the officers found Michael Hannig, 47, lying face down in the road and was unresponsive. Police say Hannig was not breathing and was transported to Auburn Community Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police then located Jamie O'Hora, of Auburn, and he was linked to the incident. Police say O'Hora had some lacerations, was bleeding, and smelled of gasoline. O'Hora was transported to Auburn Community Hospital, and was later released.
O'Hora was charged with Strangulation and Criminal Negligent Homicide, and is currently being held at the Auburn Police Department pending arraignment.
