UNION SPRINGS (AP) -- Authorities have resumed their search of Cayuga Lake for a central New York man presumed to have drowned while boating with his 9-year-old son.

The Cayuga County Sheriff's Office tells local media outlets that 35-year-old Daniel Dymock of Union Springs and his son were in a small motor boat Sunday morning when the father somehow fell into the water.

Deputies say his son was wearing a lifejacket and jumped in to help his father, but was unsuccessful. A woman boating nearby rescued the boy and called 911.

A search by police and rescue crews was suspended around 5:30 p.m. They resumed the search Monday morning in the waters off the village of Union Springs, on the lake's eastern shore 30 miles southwest of Syracuse.
