VERNON -- Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band took to the stage Wednesday night at Vernon Downs.

Thousands waited in line and tailgated for hours before the concert began at 7:30 pm. Despite the wait, fans were excited to see The Boss play.

"We're very, very excited to see Bruce, to see The Boss," said Margie Guido of Hudson Valley. "This is my fifth time, but my son has seen him 104 times. And we just love him. He puts on a great show. Everybody here is going to have a great time."

Others were happy to see Springsteen play close to home and on a night with such beautiful weather. "We're loving having him closer," said fan Colleen Bench. "We've gone a bazillion times, and it's great to be here on such a gorgeous night."

The concert is also benefitting the community. Fifty cents from the sale of every ticket is going to the Food Bank of Central New York.
