SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police are investigating two strong armed robberies that occured early Sunday morning in the City of Syracuse.
Police say the first happened around 1:45 a.m. on the 600 block of Park Street. A 28 year old man told police he was riding his bicycle on the 600 block of Park Street when he was approached by two black men appearing to be in their twenties. The man said the two men punched him in the face and stole his bicycle. Police say the suspects were last seen fleeing through the backyards towards Schneider Street.
The victim did not seek any medical attention.
The second strong armed robbery occured around 2:35 a.m. on Spencer Street. A 50 year old woman told police she was walking on Spencer Street near North State Street when she heard someone running up behind her. She says she turned around as the suspect tried to grab her purse. After a small struggle the woman was shoved to the ground. The suspect then took the purse and ran to a white, four door sedan with black stripes, and he fled the scene. Nobody was injured during the incident.
Police say the suspect is described as a white male approximately 30 years old, around 6 feet tall and about 250 pounds. He had brush cut dark hair, long side burns with a goatee, and was wearing a white tank top and white cargo shorts.
Police are investigating both incidents, and anyone with information is asked to call Syracuse Police at 442-5222.
