Canadian police are handling the investigation
Tourists spotted a torso at the base of Niagara Falls. Now it's an internationa murder mystery
Canadian police are asking for help in identifying the woman whose torso, minus head and limbs, was found floating near Niagara Falls.
Tourists spotted the body, in the Niagara River near the Rainbo Bridge, on Wednesday. Canadian law enforcers say it's definitely a murder, but they don't know whether the victim came from the American or the Canadian side of the river.
They say she's white, 20 to 40 years old, with a navel piercing and a least one c-section scar. They say she'd been in the water for some time, perhaps as much as ten days.
On Saturday, the Whirlpool area at the base of the falls was checked for evidence, but so far there's no comment on what, if anything, was found. Police agencies are checking missing person files to see if there might be a match.
Investigators say this case is not related to the torso findings in Canada recently, linked to porn actor Luke Magnotta, who was caught in Europe.
