SKANEATELES (AP) -- A million-dollar Finger Lakes mansion authorities say was built with the proceeds from drug trafficking is going to be auctioned off next month.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports that the Internal Revenue Service will hold an auction Oct. 2 for the 6,000-square-foot unfinished home Charles Ludwig Blomquist III built on the western shore of Skaneateles Lake, 15 miles southwest of Syracuse.

Blomquist was sentenced in February to more than seven years in federal prison after pleading guilty to money laundering. Prosecutors say he built the house with $1.7 million in proceeds from selling drugs starting in the 1980s.

Some Skaneateles residents consider the sprawling structure with a four-car garage an eyesore because of its blue roof and pink-accented stucco walls. The property's boathouse shares the same color scheme.
