CAYUGA COUNTY -- Heavy rains and high winds hit the Central New York area today following both severe thunderstorm and tornado watches.

In Cayuga County, emergency officials reported downed power lines and fallen tree branches from Sennett to Victory.

One woman in Auburn came home to find a tree limb on her garage and another balancing precariously on a power line. She was shocked at what she came home to find.

"I wasn't here," said Anne Tierney. "My sister's at the nursing home, and I ws over there. [I] came home and found all this." When asked if she was surprised, her response was simple: "Oh, heavens yes!"

Anne's neighbor was hit equally as hard by the storm. A large tree on her front lawn cracked in half, and several chairs and lawn ornaments were blown around. She said cleanup would take at least two days.
