Child killed by falling television set in Eastwood

SYRACUSE -- Syracuse Police are investigating the death of a child in the Eastwood neighborhood, who was crushed and killed by a falling television set.

Police are still working to notify family members and are not releasing the youngster's name as of Tuesday evening.

Here is what police have revealed about the tragedy:  

The Syracuse Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred about 6:25 PM this evening in Eastwood in which a 32-inch television set fell off of a stand and seriously injured a 2-year-old girl who was standing next to the stand. 

The girl was transported to the Upstate Hospital Pediatric Unit with serious injuries, and later passed away from her injuries. 

The incident occurred in the child’s home and was determined to be accidental. 

The name of the victim and the address of occurrence are not being released at this time.
