A Boonville woman was taken to the hospital after a car accident involving a deer.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Department says Barbara Carey, 49, of Boonville was driving on North Steuben Rd. in Steuben when she says a deer ran in front of her car while she was going around a curve.

Deputies say Carey tried to avoid the animal and lost control of the car, hitting several trees.

A two-year-old child, who was in a carseat in the back was not hurt.

Carey was taken to the hospital for treatment for her injuries.
