Infant dies in the Town of Romulus

TOWN OF ROMULUS -- Officials in Seneca County are investigating the death of a 1-year-old child in the Town of Romulus.

Deputies say they received a report of a child not breathing in the Town of Romulus on Friday.

Responding officials say they found 1-year-old Dieter Tackett II not breathing and began rescue efforts.

Deputies say the infant was taken to Geneva General Hospital and later to the pediatric intensive care unit at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

Deputies say the infant died later that evening.

Officials say they are awaiting autopsy and toxicology results. The preliminary investigation did not show any evidence of physical trauma.

The cause of death is still under investigation.
