ALBANY (AP) -- ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Horse owners in New York are being urged to have their animals vaccinated against Eastern equine encephalitis and the West Nile virus.

Agriculture officials say Monday the mosquitoes that carry the diseases will be around in some parts of the state until late November, so it's still important to get the annual inoculations.

They say EEE cases in horses have been found recently in St. Lawrence and Westchester counties. And there's been a case of West Nile involving a horse in Saratoga County.

Symptoms of EEE in horses include staggering, circling, depression, loss of appetite and sometimes fever and blindness. West Nile can show up as lethargy, hind quarter weakness, stumbling, lack of awareness, head tilt and head twitching, convulsions, circling, partial paralysis and coma.
